Upgrade Rule -
Class winners must move up to the next level, this does not apply to 50/60+ classes, womens and juniors. These classes will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Cat 1 Classes - these will also be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you dominate your class you could be asked to move up to the Elite/Open class.
Cat 2 Classes - 5 top 5 finishes in the previous season must move up to Cat 1
Cat 3 - 5 top 3 finishes in the previous season must move up to Cat 2
Racing age is defined as your age on December 31, 2013
The MASS has 2 types of XC races, standard MASS races and MASS AMBC races. The AMBC races have additional USAC classes in order to serve as qualifiers for those same classes at Nationals. For MASS series scoring the AMBC race results will be consolidated by age into the standard MASS classes for series scoring. MASS classes and series scoring is based on the following classes.

Payouts and awards at Endurance races are at the discretion of the race promoter.
Payouts and Awards
The below Pro/Open XC payout schedule for standard MASS races is agreed upon by Race Promoters based on an attendance of 300+ racers. For races with less than 300 racers the depth of the payout may be reduced to 10 deep for men and 5 deep for women.AMBC races payout might differ.
