You must be registered for the series to be included in the individual and team competitions.
For 2008 the MASS will have three series competitions consisting of the Delmarvajobs.com Cross Country Series, the Hammer Nutrition Endurance Series and the JH Tees Short-Track Series (STXC). Points will be awarded based on finishing position according to the points schedules below. Age-graded classes are divided by your racing age. Your racing age for the 2008 season is defined as your age on December 31, 2008.
The Delmarvajobs.com Cross Country Series will consist of 10 XC races and one stage race. The series XC finals at Bear Creek will be a double-points race (the equivalent of 2 XC’s). So there will be the equivalent of 12 XC race points available. Your best 7 races* will be counted towards the XC series championships. The Bear Creek XC will be a double-points race and will be scored as two races. Marysville will be a little different. The XC will be scored as an individual XC. The 3 race Stage Race will be scored as another individual XC.
*To reinforce this point, your season points total will be equivalent to 7 XC scores. For instance, since Bear Creek is equivalent to two XC scores (and if it were one of your top results) you would score in 5 other XCs plus Bear Creek, if you did not do well at BC your score would count your best 7 XCs.
The Hammer Nutrition Endurance Series will consist of 8 endurance & marathon races including the solo class at the Seven Springs 24 hour race. Your best 5 races will be counted towards the Endurance series championships.
The Tees Printing STXC Series will consist of 6 races. Your best 4 races will be counted. The Marysville STXC will be scored as part of the STXC competition as well as part of the stage race.
If a race has to be cancelled the number of races scored will be reduced by 1 race for each cancelled race. Hopefully we will not have to worry about that.
In the case of any ties at the end of a series, we will first look at who has the most 1st places, 2nd places, etc. If that is also a tie we will then look to see who did better in head-to-head competition.
